On August 24, Zhao Xuefeng, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and the Deputy Director of Management Committee of Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area, and the head of Kunming's high-end equipment and automobile manufacturing industrial chain, held a meeting with Gong Xianhua, the General Manager of Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle). They had an in-depth discussion on the overall relocation and upgrading project of Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle and introducing the upstream and downstream auto parts companies.

Zhao said that the high-end equipment and automobile manufacturing industry is the key industry in Kunming. Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle is one of the "chain host" enterprises in Kunming, and it plays a leading role in the cluster development of the entire industry chain. At present, the projects from BAIC New Energy, Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle, and the Plateau Laboratory of China Automotive Technology & Research Center Co. Ltd and other projects have been put into operation in Yanglin Economic Development Zone as Anning is building a 100 billion-level new energy battery industry. It is hoped that Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle will actively cooperate with relevant departments to resolve the difficulties encountered during the process of overall relocation and upgrading as soon as possible, will accelerate the construction of Phase I Stage II Project and will introduce upstream and downstream industrial chain companies to facilitate the development of automotive industry in Kunming and Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area. Meanwhile, the work office of Kunming's high-end equipment and automobile manufacturing industrial chain will report the progress of the project to the CPC Kunming Municipal Committee and Kunming Municipal People's Government, actively coordinate with Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle to solve the difficulties, continue to attract investment of automotive industry, and introduce upstream parts companies in order to promote the development of automotive industrial chain greatly.

Gong said that recently Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle had reached several agreements with Wuhua District Government on the relocation work. At present, the conditions for relocation and the construction of the Phase I Stage II Project have been basically in place. In the next step, the project will be accelerated under the coordination and support of Kunming City and Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area to ensure the Phase I Stage II Project will be put into operation as planned to promote the automotive industry in Kunming and Yunnan Dian Zhong New Area. At the same time, Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle will try its utmost to obtain support from Dongfeng Motor Corporation in terms of technology, market, and resources, open the market and improve capacity utilization with the influence and reputation of the Dongfeng brand. Dongfeng Yunnan Vehicle plans to start the construction of the R&D center after the realization of the Phase I Stage II Project, focusing on the research and development of products with high market acceptance in the southwest plateau and mountainous areas and South Asia and Southeast Asia. It will also actively introduces and works with parts companies to invest and build factories in Kunming and to bring component suppliers to settle in the park.
